There was a giant turtle that died in India in 2006 that once belonged to fucking Clive of India (1725-1774)
It was born during the reign of George II and was born 70 years before Queen fucking Victoria! He was put in an Indian zoo in 1875 when he was already fucking 125 years old!

During the war my mum (aged 15) had a tortoise called Timmy and a lab named Peter.
The dog would hear an air raid coming before the sirens went off and start hunting around the house for the tortoise. When he found Timmy, the dog would pick him up in his teeth, run out the back and throw him into the Anderson shelter, where he would spin around on his bak with his legs in the air.
This gave my gran advanced warning of the raid and she had time to make a pot of tea and sandwiches to take down the shelter.
Course the tortoise died in the end.

My mate had a pet tortoise when he was a kid. It went a bit mental and kept trying to flip itself onto it's back. They had to keep an eye on it and keep flipping it back over.
Eventually it did it to itself during one night and was dead by morning...
